Matched Review

One of the main reasons I picked Matched up in Waterstones was because of the awesome cover. However, when I read it I was really annoyed as NOTHING HAPPENS! I can honestly say that this is one of the most boring books I have ever read. I’m not criticising the writing style (it does have some nice descriptions in it- notice I used the word ‘nice’, possibly the blandest adjective in the English language), and Ally Condie’s idea of The Society is interesting, although a cliche.

The plot lets it down, though, as because it’s so dull you sometimes have to read over something twice to check if an important thing has happened (everything in it just sort of blends together because it’s so samey). Also, I found the characters, particularly Ky, very under developed. In my opinion, it would have been better as just a stand alone book, so the plot wasn’t so widely spread over all three.

As you may have guessed, I will not be reading the rest of the trilogy!
